The MedExplore (ME) Web site is now expanding the placement of banner advertisements. This initiative will be rolled out slowly in several phases. The revenue generated will help support the Web site's ability to provide high-quality services to doctors and visitors |
Advertising Content and Format
Advertisements on the ME Web are designed in the well-known banner advertisements format, appearing either in the right-hand navigation bar, or at the top of the page. Along with paid banner ads, ME advertisements are placed on the site to help promote various ME services and sections of the Web site that are of interest to health care professionals. The advertisements on the ME Web site are directed to healthcare professionals.
The pages within the Web site are selected for ad placement based on site traffic, provided that these pages are deemed to be appropriate for advertising by ME's Advertising Review Committee, which comprises staff from key areas within ME. Each ad must meet ME's existing guidelines for advertising as posted on the ME Web site. Advertising will appear on the main ME Web site's Homepage, and "pop-up" ads are not permitted.
The paid banner advertisements feature a header that alerts users that the banner is an advertisement. If users elect to click on an advertisement, a new browser window will open, showing the ad. If users continue to view the advertisement then it will inform users that they will be leaving the ME Web site . The user then has two options:
(1) click an "OK" button where-by the advertisement will appear in a new browser window, or alternatively, (2) click a "CANCEL" button to close the buffer page and continue viewing the ME Web site.
Cookies
The ME Web site may use "cookies" to deliver targeted advertising.
Every Web browser is assigned an identification number. That ID number does not correspond to any personally identifiable information, such as a Web site visitors’ name. The ID number is stored in a file called a "cookie." Thousands of sites use cookies to enhance the Web visitors' experience.
Cookies enable our site to "remember" you by associating the cookie ID number to your Web browser. We use cookies to control how many times an advertisement is shown to the same user, as identified by the browser ID number. Our advertisers use aggregate cookie data to measure their ad effectiveness, i.e., how many viewers have clicked on a particular ad.
Occasionally, you may be asked to complete a brief online survey to better understand your Web advertising needs. If you complete the survey, a cookie would store generic preferences in a cookie (without any personally identifiable information) to allow more targeted and relevant ads to be displayed. Such online surveys will clearly identify the use of cookies and require that you agree to have your preferences remembered via a cookie.
Cookies cannot damage your computer files. They can's access or read any information on your computer's hard drive. Cookies do not store any personally identifiable information unless you proactively supply such information. See the ME's cookie policy for more information on how the ME uses cookies
Privacy
Online advertisements on the ME's Web site do not collect any personally identifiable information on individual visitors. The ME does collect non medical aggregate data on visitors such as time of day and Web browser type.
Please visit our Privacy Policy for more information.
